In 1916, twelve-year-old Adama lives in a remote village in West Africa. Beyond the cliffs lies the world of breaths, where the Nassaras reign. One night, his older brother Samba disappears. Defying the laws of the elders, Adama decides to go in search of him. With the unwavering determination of a child becoming a man, he embarks on a journey that will take him across the seas, to the North, and to the front lines of World War I.
