The Children’s Film Festival Burkina Faso (KIFIFE) 2024, which took place from June 11 to 15 in the Operndorf Afrika, was a complete success. The fifth edition of the festival offered a diverse program that immersed children and young people in the fascinating world of film.

A festival of films

This year’s KIFIFE kicked off with a festive opening ceremony, followed by a series of inspiring film screenings. Highlights included the Burkinabe classic “A Nous La Rue” by Moustapha Dao and the French animated film “Adama” by Simon Rouby.

In the days that followed, films such as “Garibou” by Seydou Cissé and “The Little Fish and the Crocodile” by Stephanie Plattner were shown in various elementary school and villages. These screenings were very well received and delighted the young audience.

Creative workshops and artistic development

In addition to the film screenings, numerous artistic workshops were offered. The children were able to take part in stop-motion animation, digital painting and even a cinema workshop. The workshop on the introduction to artificial intelligence, led by Ismaël Nabalam, deserves a special mention. These activities offered the children a unique opportunity to discover and develop their creative skills.

Conclusion and outlook

The festival ended with a celebratory closing ceremony where the results of the workshops were presented. The young talents received recognition for their creativity and enthusiasm.

The KIFIFE 2024 has once again proven how important and valuable cultural events are for the development and promotion of children. We are already looking forward to next year and the many new stories and talents that will be discovered.
